Laravel FAQ

Welcome to the next session of our Laravel FAQs. Here, we take a deeper look at the questions developers ask most often and provide clear, practical answers to help you work with Laravel more confidently.

What is a Starter Kit in Laravel?

A starter kit in Laravel is a pre-built application scaffolding that provides a great start for building a Laravel project. Often, it includes the essential routes, controllers, views, and authentication features, such as user registration, login, password reset, and user profile management.

Official starter kits are available for different frontend stacks: React, Vue, and Livewire. These kits give developers a ready-to-run application. There are community-made starter kits as well, which you can use to kickstart your project.

A Laravel starter kit enables developers to quickly set up a new Laravel app with built-in user authentication and a ready-made frontend, making the development process much faster and easier.

Which is the Best Laravel-based CMS?

There isn’t a single ‘best’ Laravel-based CMS; it really depends on your needs. Broadly, there are four strong options, each with its own strengths:

October CMS - Best all-rounder. It’s great for agencies and developers that need full Laravel power with a simple editor backend.

Statamic - Best for Git-friendly, modern workflows. Ideal for custom sites, blogs, and multi-language projects with strong editor UX.

Lavalite - Best for modular SaaS/portal apps. Lightweight, open-source, and developer-first.

Winter CMS - Best for stability and community-driven development. A lean, reliable fork of October.

In case you need a more custom solution, Filament is a great and our personal favorite alternative to easily build UI for your CMS admin panel.

Is Laravel Forge Still a Good Option?

Yes, Laravel Forge is still a solid option for managing servers and deploying Laravel applications. It handles provisioning, SSL certificates, and automated deployments, removing the need for manual server management. While newer tools like Laravel Vapor, and Laravel Cloud have entered the space with additional features and integrations, Forge remains reliable, actively maintained, and widely used by developers who want a simple, cost-effective way to host and manage Laravel projects.

Is Laravel with React a Good Option?

Yes, Laravel with React is a very good option for modern web application development in 2025, which we actively use in our projects. Combining Laravel’s robust backend capabilities, including data processing, authentication, and API handling, with React’s dynamic, component-based frontend allows developers to build scalable, high-performance, and highly interactive web apps.

With React, you can also use Inertia, which allows you to build modern SPAs using classic server-side routing and monolith architecture.

Which Package is Best for Laravel E-Commerce?

Again, there isn’t a single “best” Laravel e-commerce package - it depends on your project size and goals. The four main options are:

  1. Aimeos - Best for large-scale, enterprise projects. Highly customizable, multi-vendor, multi-language, API-first, and scalable.

  2. Bagisto - Best for all-in-one solutions. Open-source platform with CMS, multi-vendor marketplace, multi-currency, and a strong plugin ecosystem.
  3. LunarPHP - Laravel Lunar is the best option for building headless ecommerce platforms and API-driven stores. Great if you need flexibility for multi-storefronts and modern integrations. If you want to see Lunar in action, you can read more about our experience here.
  4. Vanilo - Best for simple to medium stores. Lightweight, Laravel-native, and easy to extend while keeping full code control.

Is Laravel Cloud Suitable For Large Projects?

Yes. It’s designed for scale with near zero‑downtime, minute‑fast containerized deployments, multi‑organizational governance for clean separation and oversight, managed serverless Postgres/MySQL plus a Redis‑compatible store for high throughput and caching, first‑class support for queues, scheduling, environment management and deploy hooks to standardize operations, real‑time logs for rapid diagnosis, and cost controls like hibernating non‑prod environments; combined with an enterprise posture that now includes SOC 2 Type 2 certification and ISO certification on the 2025 roadmap, these capabilities make it well‑suited for large, complex, and even regulated projects. We recently deployed one of our bigger projects on Laravel Cloud, which saw tens of thousands of visitors go to the site within a short time frame, and it was a breeze.
