Laravel Meetup Georgia Returns October 8, with Nuno Maduro in Tbilisi

The second edition of Laravel Meetup Georgia is on Thursday, October 8, at 18:00, on the Stamba rooftop in Tbilisi. Nuno Maduro, Staff Software Engineer at Laravel and the creator of Pest, is traveling in for it. Nika Jorjoliani, our CTO, takes the second talk.

We watched this community from a distance for six years
Redberry was founded in Tbilisi in 2014 by four friends. Laravel was there from close to the beginning, and it is still the default backend framework across most of what we build - today that means 100+ in-house engineers and 12+ years of Laravel in production, for clients across the EU, the UK, the US, and the Middle East.
For the first stretch of that, roughly 2014 through 2020, our entire relationship with the wider Laravel community was a livestream. Laracon happened somewhere else, to other people, and we watched it in the office, on Tbilisi time. With the US edition that is its own small commitment: the stream opens around six in the evening here and the last talk of the day lands well after midnight. Laracon EU was the easier one, two hours behind us instead of eight.
We were young, far from where any of it was happening, and we watched anyway. Laravel was what we built on; the people on that stream were why it kept getting better, and following along was the closest we had to being part of it.
Then we started showing up
In 2023, we sponsored our first Laravel conference, Laracon EU. The company had grown by then, and the work had gone international; once you are building for clients across Europe and the US, following the ecosystem from a distance isn't enough.
We have sponsored one every year since. Laracon EU is now four consecutive years, our longest-running relationship in the ecosystem. Laracon US since 2024, Laravel Live UK since 2024, and this year, for the first time, Laravel Live Denmark. Besides the events, we are a Laravel Premier Partner, one of thirteen worldwide, and we sponsor Pest and Filament directly - the open-source projects themselves, separate from any conference.
And then we started hosting
Georgia has a large Laravel community for a country this size, and for the most part it has been doing exactly what we did: following the meetups and the conferences from a distance, with nowhere close to home to trade experience in person.
So in May 2026 we ran the first Laravel Meetup Georgia. More than a hundred people came for three talks, with a long socializing session afterward that everyone actually shows up for. One of the three slots came from an open call: it went to Irakli Shengelia of Prime Insights, for a talk about running Laravel at millions of daily users that we could never have booked ourselves.
The second edition runs the same way. What has changed since May is what we can bring to it: a few years of showing up at these conferences means we now know some of the people building the tools everyone here uses, and when we can, we ask them to come to Tbilisi. This time Nuno Maduro said yes. He needs little introduction here: Staff Software Engineer at Laravel, creator of Pest, and one of the people this community follows most closely.
